Tumeric Psoriasis Treatment
Natural home remedies have helped thousands of people to eliminate psoriasis as a problem in their lives. Many and various herbs contribute to this — including what we shall refer to as the turmeric psoriasis treatment.
Turmeric is a spice from Southern Asia and is similar to ginger. If you enjoy eating Indian, Pakistani, or other Southern Asian cuisines, you have probably eaten turmeric.
Turmeric has anti-inflammatory benefits, so is frequently employed in herbal medicines. Keep in mind, however, that the amount of turmeric used in the recipes you enjoy is probably not nearly enough to have any curative benefit. Also, spices kept at home often lose their potency.
Before using any medicinal herbs you should check with your doctor. While turmeric is considered very safe, if you have a stomach or intestinal disorder like gallstones, ulcers or a bile obstruction, you should definitely first get your doctor’s OK. The same is true if you have any serious medical conditions.
A reputable health food store should have a good t urmeric root supplement. Chances are it will be in the form of a powder, pills, or capsules, and will be pharmaceutical grade – much different from the turmeric you have on your spice rack at home.
While the pills or capsules are certainly easier to take, the powder can be made into a paste and applied to the skin. Watch out, though, because turmeric is used in many dyes and can permanently stain clothing. It will also discolor your skin and takes a while to wash or wear off. We will talk about using turmeric paste in another article.
For this article, let’s just concentrate on the pills and capsules.
The red, scaly lesions that are common to psoriasis are caused by inflammation. Because turmeric has very strong anti-inflammatory properties, getting it into your system will work effectively to fight off future flare-ups.
The pills generally come in various dosages, probably 250 mgs and 500 mgs. Herbalists have different opinions on dosages, but most recommend between two and three grams of turmeric each day.
To help you decide the dosage you will take, check the label or ask a knowledgeable person at the health food store. Probably one to two 500 mg capsules taken each morning, afternoon and evening will give you a sufficient dosage to begin.
By the way, no dosage has been established for children, so before giving turmeric to your child you should first check with your pediatrician.
Turmeric psoriasis treatment is just part of a total cure and won’t give instantaneous relief. Results will not be seen in the first week or two — but after that you should start noticing flare-ups becoming less and less severe. Over time they may disappear completely.
